Thank you for your interest in Labdoo.org and for applying for an IT donation. IT donations are usually made to associations, schools, integration projects, children's or youth projects with an educational focus. Labdoo's possibilities are limited, so the acceptance of applications is subject to certain conditions.

In Germany, digital participation is also made possible for pupils, trainees and students from socially disadvantaged or migrant families under certain conditions. For this purpose, Labdoo (Germany) lends one (1) laptop for the duration of school attendance, training or studies (see below for details).

Specifications for certain configurations, brands or high-performance laptops are an exclusion criterion.

Important: Laptops are donated to Labdoo precisely because current Windows versions, such as the latest Windows operating systems, no longer run on them. Labdoo therefore installs Linux Ubuntu / Linux Mint, which is fast, free and available free of charge. If you install Windows anyway, the computers will usually become extremely slow, if not unusable. Labdoo support will then also end. If you absolutely need Windows, you will have to buy the appropriate equipment yourself. Please also bear in mind the licence costs incurred under Windows, virus problems, etc.

Application for schools and projects

What is the procedure?

1. Contact Labdoo Germany and in other countries: https://www.labdoo.org, Labdoo Switzerland: https://labdoo.ch, ask for the application form and information for a project request,
2. Submission of an application, possibly with photos and other documents; then Labdoo will check your documents,
3. Preparation of the IT donation(s) on request by the applicant, e.g. for a scheduled flight or transport sponsor (please plan several weeks, rather months in advance; the higher the number of devices, the more time our volunteers will need)

• for Germany: pick-up for projects by arrangement in a Labdoo hub or delivery by parcel service; Devices requested for needy pupils or students are usually sent by parcel service.
• for Switzerland: only collection at Labdoo (Switzerland) possible.

The IT donations provided by Labdoo are registered, given an ID number and assigned to a project. This makes it possible to check whether the IT donations received are still in use in the project. Defective IT donations are exchanged free of charge against return of the defective device, but user data is not transferred (prior backup by the user).

An important factor in deciding whether to accept an application from abroad is the logistics, e.g. whether the applicant / project has flight sponsors who can occasionally fly to the destination country or visit the project and take IT donations with them, or whether there are aid shipments that can be accompanied by IT donations. Labdoo does not take care of the transport of IT donations to a project.

Due to the large number of IT donations and projects, it is necessary that you inform us several weeks or months before departure so that our volunteers have enough time to prepare the IT donations and send them to the flight sponsor, more information here.

Labdoo then needs the following information for each flight sponsor (traveler) in order to create a flight sponsorship in our database:

• Name, phone no. as well as e-mail and postal address of the flight sponsor (important: the name must be visible on the bell at the address given, otherwise the parcel service will not deliver),
• Departure date (i.e. when must the laptops be with the flight supervisor at the latest), 
• Number of laptops to be taken (recommended for flights 1 to max. 3 pieces per person), 
• for which project (please include a link or project number/name; you will receive this upon acceptance of the application), a list of all projects here.

Labdoo only starts working on your IT donations with your notification! Of course, we can only pass on the IT hardware that was previously donated to us. Therefore, we cannot say when the IT donation you need will be available.

You can collect, prepare and install IT donations yourself and benefit from our know-how. Everything you need is freely available on our website and FTP server.

For Labdoo (Germany): Labdoo incurs delivery costs of around €5 per device (when picked up from the hub) and a further €5 for shipping per computer (half the price for tablets and readers). In order to keep Labdoo deliverable in the long term, please help us by supporting our association with a donation.

Loan laptop: Application only for pupils and for trainees (for students at universities only as long as the quota for students is not used up)

Labdoo (Germany) supports pupils in need, e.g. in socially disadvantaged families, refugee families, flood victims, etc. Each family can apply for one (1) laptop (no tablets). Only participation in a language or integration course does not authorise the loan of a laptop.

1. Please complete the application digitally (not by hand) and send it to Labdoo http://ftp.labdoo.org/download/documents/german/Unterlagen/Selbsterklärung_Ausleihe_IT.pdf (application in Ukrainian https://tinyurl.com/antrag-ua).
2. School certificate Please have this confirmation signed and stamped by the school, then submit it to Labdoo http://ftp.labdoo.org/download/documents/german/Unterlagen/Bestätigung_Digitalpakt.pdf. Alternatively, a school certificate is also sufficient.
3. From students: A copy of the student ID and the current enrolment certificate.

Your documents will then be checked by Labdoo.

One-off loan fee €15 Finally, you will receive a request to pay the one-off hire fee of €15 by PayPal or bank transfer. Under no circumstances should you pay beforehand, but only after being requested to do so by Labdoo!

Important:

• If parcel is returned due to mistakes made by recipient (e.g. missing name on bell-board and/or postbox, missing room no. etc) the request will be canceled, no further device will be sent and fee kept to cover the DHL costs. No 2nd parcel will be sent.
• A loaned device must be returned to Labdoo at the end of school, training, studies or permanent departure so that we can help other young people. Please show solidarity with the next applicant. Failure to return items can also have legal consequences (misappropriation).
• No one is liable for loss or damage, but Labdoo will not provide a replacement device.
• Specifications for certain configurations, brands or high-performance laptops are an exclusion criterion.
• As Labdoo depends on previous IT donations, it is also not possible to predict which device an applicant will receive. If the applicant is not satisfied with the loaned laptop, the device can be returned to Labdoo within the first 4 weeks. The hire fee will then be refunded.
• The Labdoo stickers must not be removed, otherwise Labdoo's support will end.
• If a package with a laptop cannot be delivered because, for example, the name mentioned is not on the doorbell and letterbox and the package is returned to Labdoo, the request will be cancelled and the rental fee will not be refunded. Only if Labdoo has made a mistake will the parcel be resent after correction.
• Labdoo laptops are ready to use for home schooling, learning, office, media, CAD, browsing and many other programmes, easy to use and fully set up. Based on Linux, fast and protected against viruses, because under active
