Project information
Project description
Through Uganics Women Empowerment Program, we work with women in rural Ugandan communities to improve their livelihoods through entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and sustainable agriculture. We currently have 48 women actively enrolled, with over 118 women who have gone through our trainings. These women are either starting or growing small businesses, both in agriculture and other sectors, and are learning to manage their finances using digital tools.
Our main goals are to:
1. Equip rural women with the digital and financial skills needed to sustainably run their businesses.
2. Improve record-keeping, budgeting, and market access through the use of financial management software like QuickBooks and digital ledgers.
3. Foster economic independence and community development by enabling women to run profitable, well-managed enterprises.
The laptops will be used for:
• Hands-on training in financial management software.
• Access to online learning resources and entrepreneurship toolkits.
• Storing and updating business records for participants.
• Facilitating group projects and digital literacy exercises.
Currently, we have only two laptops (one generously provided by Labdoo in 2021), which creates significant limitations for 48 participants during the trainings and for implementation.
Our trainers already have experience in fields like accounting, financial management, social work, software engineering, and in using QuickBooks, digital record systems, and e-learning tools. We conduct annual internal capacity-building workshops to ensure trainers are up to date on software and training methods.
Laptop maintenance plan
We have a dedicated office space and a Software engineer, Daniel Burongu on the team who:
• Performs regular maintenance and software updates
• Trains participants on proper laptop care
• Ensures secure storage when laptops are not in use
