Project information
Project description
Yei River County’s education system faces severe barriers to STEM education and digital access, largely due to the disruptions caused by the 2016 political instabilities. Eleven secondary schools and 14 primary schools in Yei Town lack essential infrastructure, including well-equipped libraries, reliable internet access, and modern digital learning tools. Teachers rely on outdated theoretical instruction, while students face limited exposure to STEM education due to high internet costs, poor mobile network quality, and low digital literacy. This results in less productivity and low student engagement in STEM fields, limited career opportunities in science and technology, and a disconnect from global knowledge and learning resources. Community Creativity for Development (CC4D) is committed to equipping communities in Yei River County, South Sudan, with essential digital literacy skills to foster development and resilience. This concept note outlines a project aimed at training and mentoring 30 secondary school students and 20 teachers in foundational ICT skills. The project seeks to bridge the digital divide by enhancing participants’ ability to effectively use technology in academic, professional, and personal contexts.
