Project information
    Project description
Special Olympics Namibia is a registered Nonprofit organisation. We use sport as a vehicle to create Inclusion for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). At our center in Windhoek, Namibia, we offer a program for Young Adults to teach them life skills and education to get into a sheltered workshop or vocational program. As many of our athletes never attended school or do not have a lot of learning opportunities in schools, this program helps them not only with their basic education skills but also with socializing, being part of a community and learning crucial skills to become independent.
We offer a after school program every Monday – Thursday during the school term ( and sometimes holiday camps as well) to people with IDD. Before sports training they have a set time to have education tutoring and learning foundational literacy, numeracy and perception skills.
