Project information
Project description
At Amandla Community Projects, with the support of ComputerAid, we established a digital hub
in Xitlhelani Village to provide the community with the opportunity to develop IT skills and
access educational courses. The hub, a converted container, is equipped with 11 desktops, 30
laptops, a printer and scanner, and a projector.
We plan to use the laptops to further expand digital access within the village. Since 2022, in
collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), we’ve been working to
provide Wi-Fi to Xitlhelani High School, creating a network where students can connect to the
internet for research and learning. However, with the growing demand for digital access, our
current number of computers limits our ability to accommodate all the children that would like to
enroll.
To ensure we can provide quality education while meeting the needs of a larger group, we are
seeking additional computers. This would allow us to offer more access without compromising
the quality of lessons, and provide flexibility in our schedule to accommodate more children.
Furthermore, the increased capacity could lead to creating additional work opportunities within
the community.
Our long-term goal is to foster digital literacy and ensure that everyone in the community has
equal access to technology, supported by sustainable IT solutions and quality educational
opportunities.
