Project information
Project description
Kilimahewa is a small but growing school that provides educational opportunities to children and young adults from disadvantaged families of our communities. The school is located in Moshi Rural District of Kilimanjaro region in Tanzania. This is a private registered school that provides Secondary education, Computer training, English courses, Life Skills training and bridge programs such as Pre-Form One which helps students from Primary (elementary) education prepare and transition well to their Secondary education. Students expecting to join Universities are given special training on computers/internet, job readiness and entrepreneurship. A special Computer Training focuses on enabling students to be able to find jobs or employ themselves in computer-related jobs. Our Boys & Girls’ clubs have been filling the missing-gap that brings together boys and girls from 5 public schools for important lessons and trainings that are otherwise not offered in the school curriculum. Kilimahewa has been supported by KIWOCE, a registered NGO in Tanzania (with its partners) so that it can offer all its courses at highly discounted prices to enable our disadvantaged communities an access. We partner with several child-care organizations who bring their students to our school. The sought laptops will be very helpful to all these students whether learning computer or those who use computers + internet to extend learning beyond the classroom to more than 350 students in a year.
