At its core, the Labdoo social network is based around five types of objects: labdooers, dootronics, dootrips, edoovillages, and hubs.
- Labdooers: Labdoo users.
- Dootronics: Labdoo objects. These are the actual devices, such as laptops, tablets, etc., that get loaded with educational applications and deployed in needy schools.
- Dootrips: Labdoo trips. These are CO2-neutral transportation means used to carry laptops from one location to another. Examples of dootrips include trips carried out by tourists, NGO volunteers (e.g., doctors and engineers without borders, humanitarian personnel, etc.), international students, and employees of international corporations.
- Edoovillages: Schools that receive dootronics, such as laptops or tablets loaded with educational software.
- Hubs: While everyone can participate in the Labdoo project (from your home, your school, your work, your NGO, etc.), labdooers most of times find it useful to organize themselves locally as groups of volunteers. A hub is a group of labdooers located in a given region who get together to carry out Labdoo tasks.
The diagram below illustrates the interrelationships among these five objects. An arrow with a number indicates that the source object can be linked to one or multiple (n) destination objects. For example, a dootronic can be associated with only one edoovillage, but it can be linked to multiple (n) dootrips. Similarly, the arrow from dootrip to dootronic indicates that a dootrip can carry multiple (n) dootronics.
