Project description
The project seeks to reduce the stigmatization of children with disabilities since this has been a major problem among children with disabilities in Tanzania. Exposure to mental and physical disabled children who are hidden in the community is where by seeing that all children with special needs are engaged with normal activities within the community as their peers.
It will also ensure that all children can learn and reach their full potential given opportunity, effective teaching and appropriate resources mostly to children with disabilities, educational centres and health care facilities put in place to cater for children with special needs e.g. providing appropriate vocational services to disabled children and direct them to careers suited for them. To see that at least 120 children with disabilities are empowered towards a smooth transition to independent lives.
Education and training for children with disabilities that is those with learning disabilities, hyperactivity disorder and autism should be provided with appropriate educational support. Communities in Ilemela and Nyamagana districts will become competent in providing effective support to children with severe and intellectual disabilities.
