Project description
Community Secondary School
In response to the limited, subservient schedule that the majority of girls and women in our area adhere to on a daily basis, MAVUNO commenced the construction of an all-girls boarding school at the secondary level in the village of Chonyonyo. Our goal is to create a foundation for more opportunities and improved lifestyles for the females in our area who contribute so much to the sustenance of our way of life. Without their commitment and hard work, our communities would not sustain, and without the nurtured progress of this demographic, societal progress is stagnant. The promotion of gender equality is assumed to be intrinsic to the success of any initiative that addresses poverty.
In 2014 the school will be build, in Spring 2015 the opening is planned.
Update May 2017:
We shall need computers because the number of students have been increased. now the school has 240 students and earlier next year we expect to add 80 student more. we shall have two rooms of computer classrooms to support students have computer lessons at least thrice per week. With this reason that is why we are asking for your kind support.
Update August 2019:
Travelers visited the school, but about 1/3 of the donated laptops could not be found on school campus. After a longer, partially rude discussion with school management, a mayor part of the removed laptops were brought back to school. 4 laptops were broken and returned to Germany. 4 spare laptops were left at the school. But as the teacher broke the Labdoo role this school will excluded from further deliveries (semaphore set red).
