The goal of our project is to address the shortage of digital skills among the youth in Ghana and to improve access to education for young people in remote areas or with limited resources with our primary target being youths that are street-connected and underprivileged. The project aims to prepare these youth to meet contemporary and future demands in the fields of technology. Also, the initiative seeks to provide extensive training in digital skills, including coding, programming, web development, data analysis, digital marketing, and graphic design. It will also offer short and long-term courses for young industry workers, and sponsor outstanding beneficiaries to pursue STEAM-based courses at universities.

The beneficiaries of the project, particularly outstanding street-connected youth and the underprivileged, will utilise the laptops for various purposes related to digital skills development. The laptops will be used for educational and training purposes, including coding, programming, web development, data analysis, digital marketing, and graphic design. The laptops will support the implementation of short and long-term courses for young industry workers.

Currently, we have 5 trainers on this project and the number of pupils will depend on the schools we will be visiting. Using the Laptops for the street-connected children/youth and underprivileged youth, we shall be targeting 10-15 for a start with the prospective of scaling up our impact.


How do you plan to train your teachers?
With our trainers and teachers for the project being skilled professionals, Starlight Foundation will further provide avenues for personal development and build upon their knowledge with relevant courses or training considering current trends.

How will you maintain your laptops?
The laptops provided are going to be updated for crucial security and best performance. Also, antivirus protections will be installed on them for intact security and maintenance. A technical team will be constituted for checks on the functionality of the computers and to repair any damage caused. And for its safety, all the laptops will be at our Hub centre or our Office in Accra.
