Project information
    Project description
Atar is a town in northwestern Mauretania. It is the capital of the Adrar Region and situated in the Sahara. There is no industry. People live from farm work mostly dates, animal husbandry (camels and goats) and there are some mines. There are not many possibilities to gain money, a lot of young people leave the town and head to the capital.

Schools offer poor education. Helfende Hände e.V. has been working in the city for 5 years and we want to increase the quality of education. We renovated three schools. We support school directors and teachers with material and knowledge.
Acutally there is no possibility to get access to IT lessons. People mostly use mobile phones and do not have any knowledge of writing and calculating professionally. There is an important need in computer science teaching. The citizens are very interested in it. With our evening school we want to give access to everybody.
The municipality offers the rooms, electricity and wifi for free, Helfende Hände paid for renovation of the rooms and sent furniture and will survey.

2 young professionals will offer lessons for a very small amount, Helfende Hände will support the best pupils of our schools so that they get their lessons for free.
