Hello Labdoo. Worth A Haven Foundation formed a school that is called Worth A Haven Primary School. We have over 400 students ranging from nursery to primary seven employ over 15 teachers. The school is registered under the foundation Worth A Haven Foundation which provides free education to students in the neighbouring community of Kasese, kirembe ward.
The project aims to extend education and skilling in students, teachers and volunteers through accessing information on the internet which will facilitate self paced learning and key skills such as typing, browsing and researching, extending curriculum support through further research on topics for clarity of knowledge, tracking results and progress of students by teachers and volunteers, global collaboration on teaching projects and assignments and orientation training by teachers to get well acquainted with various programs of beneficial use to them and students.
USES OF LAPTOPS TO THE STUDENTS
The laptops in this case will aid students in the following ways;
To gain a proper understanding of information technology through accessing information on the internet which will facilitate self paced learning and key skills such as typing, browsing and researching.
Providing curriculum support in form of revising more on subjects and topics that are not understood directly on the board teaching sessions. This can be through further education by reading online or watching educational videos to explain difficult classroom concepts.
The laptops shall also ensure that students are organized by keeping their work, assignments and progress on performance in school as well as tracking papers and results of students by teachers.
Furthermore, laptops will also promote online collaboration with the global world and hence a more all round learning experience by adopting foreign learning cultures and practices.
