Project information
Project description
The Masanga Hospital Rehabilitation Project (MHRP) is dedicated to developing a skilled technical team to support the hospital's operations and growth. This team includes plumbers, masons, carpenters, electricians, and welders, who have not only grown in number but also improved in their organizational structure and technical expertise.
As part of the initiative, engineering expatriates visit the hospital twice a year for 4–5 months to provide hands-on training. A key focus of this training includes IT skills, which set the team apart from other technicians. This added competency enables them to work with advanced technologies, pursue higher career qualifications, and support the hospital in adopting modern solutions.
Additionally, some technicians are trained as biomedical technicians, specializing in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment. With access to laptops, these technicians can further enhance their knowledge by enrolling in online biomedical courses. This has proven effective, as our first biomedical technician has been recognized as one of the best in Sierra Leone.
However, our progress is currently hindered by a lack of laptops. Without this essential tool, our technicians are unable to fully practice their IT and biomedical skills outside of the courses, limiting their ability to grow professionally and support the hospital's needs. Laptops would provide the resources necessary to expand their competencies through continuous learning and online training, ensuring the hospital has a robust and skilled technical team to meet future challenges
