Project information
Project description
KMU-NSYU national volunteer team-Malawi is the from Kaohsiung Medical University(KMU) and National Sun Yat-sen University(NSYU) in Taiwan. The volunteer team have been to Malawi and cooperated with the NGO called LIN (Luke International Norway) to work out our volunteer work plan every July since 2007. We have focused on holding education camp to facilitate the spreading of health education, science, and cross-cultural communication for the students and residents in Mzuzu and Usisya.
In the past years, we have found that the computer equipment is scarce, which the computer/user ratio is about 1/50. The computer equipment is one of the most important resource to enhance the learning efficiency and also speed up the information transmission. We use some useful videos and software in laptops to demonstrate what we want to teach to students. With the help of computers, we can not only display some ideas more clearly but also arouse students’ interests by introducing new ideas from the Internet. If students can use computers to help learning, it will be a huge advancement for them to acquire a variety of knowledge. Furthermore, the information skill is also an important indication when people there need to go out to find a job in government institutions or enterprise.
We sincerely long for your donation of second-handed computers to help the Malawian create a more resourceful environment.
