Project information
    Project description
Lebanon is experiencing various crises since October 2019: economic breakdown, political instability, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the explosion at the Port of Beirut on the 4th of
August 2020. All these crises intensely affected the Lebanese education sector, which is at risk of collapsing, according to Human Rights Watch.
According to UNICEF, 400.000 children in Lebanon have dropped out of school in 2020 due to “poverty and other factors” and 75% of the children aged 6-14, who are able to attend
school, have difficulties or are unable to concentrate at home –indicative of hunger and mental distress. Furthermore, based on the data collected from the Lebanese Ministry of
Education in January 2020, 39.189 students changed their education from private to public schools, since the parents were not able to afford the high fees of private schools anymore.
Lebanese public schools, which provide education for Lebanese as well as non-Lebanese students for a symbolic registration fee, struggle to continue functioning while lacking
    governmental support on many levels.
We aim to support one Lebanese public school that is located in Beirut, where the laptops will be used to provide quality education for highly condensed classes. Ghobeiry Second
Mixed Intermediate Public School, which consists of 17 classes, will have one laptop in each class that can be used by the teacher to explain the lessons through different tools. Additionally, we will be able to entirely equip a computer room in the school with 36 laptops- 35 for students and 1 for the teacher. Finally, two laptops will be left at the office of the school director to be used for administrative work organization and as backup.
