The laptops provided by Labdoo will be used in E4D’s pilot center/makerspace in Banjarapalya village, in the outskirts of Bangalore city in India.
The space caters to the local village and surrounding communities as an alternate learning place, where its members use the Internet to find interesting projects from various sources like Instructables and Makezine, and build them using the tools and prototyping equipment available at the makerspace. We are working on such a concept of self motivated learning, where each member can customize education for him/herself and develop skills in a practical way, as opposed to the traditional methods of learning without objective. This is especially important for the Indian rural population as they receive really low quality education, as obtaining better education is beyond their affordability. Banjarapalya is thus the experimentation ground and our first step towards creating a system of high-quality learning in a low-cost ecosystem, leveraging open online material from the internet.
